Ice Cream and Other Things

Drew and I took mom to the airport early this morning. It was great to have her here for 8 days all to ourselves! She helped me with a few things around the house, but importantly helped me with little man. It was nice to have an extra set of hands. We really spent a lot of time here at the house and of course a few shopping trips. :)

I have started running again. I haven't ran this much since I was in high school which is over 10 years ago now!! I wish I had started blogging from the beginning, but now may be the best time to start because it is getting tougher. I am in my 6th week of the Couch to 5K podcast and did my first 20 minute run last Friday. My goal is to run the St Pete Susan G Komen 5K the first weekend in October. If you don't see pictures of it in October, you better give me some grief. I need the accountability!

Ready for church a few weeks ago

He is loving his bath these days!

Random Friday

1) Guess what Daddy will be doing tonight??? We had lowered his crib halfway, but it will be going all the way down tonight! A few times this week I found him bouncing up and down on his knees holding on to the rail when I went to get him after a nap, but today he decided to pull all the way up. 2)It seems like the last few weeks have been full of changes! He is crawling, pulling up more, and is feeding himself anything that I will put on his tray. He has started laughing at himself. On the way home from having lunch with Hal today, he was just giggling to himself in the backseat.
3) I studied the life of Samuel this week. Several things really stood out to me: his commitment to follow the LORD even when it wasn't popular, the way he went to the LORD in prayer, and how he was obedient at all costs. But what stood out the most was how in just 3 years Samuel's mother, Hannah, was able to set a Godly foundation for her son. It has made me conscience of the words I say during the day. Can I use frustrations as an opportunity to pray out loud for patience? Can I use diaper changing times as a time to speak scripture or sing about who God is? I don't do it all the time...but I am working on it!
4)We are looking forward to a relaxing weekend and looking forward to my mom being here on Tuesday. I am sure you have noticed every comment she has put on the blog in the last month mentions she is coming!
5) Off to track down my crawler who just left the room!

Crawling all over the place

We had a great time over the weekend with Hal's parents. They were able to see Drew go from trying to crawl on Thursday to crawling all over the place by Sunday. Thursday night we had dinner here at the house. Friday, Hal and his parents watched Drew while I had brunch with my friend Samantha and then helped decorate for a wedding reception. Saturday we had an early breakfast at Yoder's and went to the Farmer's Market. Hal and I really loved watching Drew with his grandparents. He is blessed to have them in his life!

Last night we and dinner with our friends, Rachel and Marcus. They are moving today to Marshall, Texas. We are so excited for them, but sad to see them go. They are family to us. They have been a huge encouragement and support to us over the last year as we were preparing for Drew and then as we adjusted to having him. From sitting at the hospital waiting for Drew to be born, watching him when we needed a night out, or just listening when we were frustrated, they have loved and encouraged us! We are looking forward to many more years of friendship!

I hate that Nan's eyes are closed in this picture! This is the only one I got of all 3 of them.

8 Months Old

Look out world.....here comes Drew Ramsey!! He is crawling a little better every day. Blake and Owen gave me a jump start on knowing what I need to move to make things less tempting for little man. It won't be long until he is all over the house!

8 months old

Drinking water and juice from his sippy.

I hate to tell his Daddy, but I think he is going to be a basketball player. :) He loves this toy, or maybe he just loves the music it makes

Visitors

We had a great time with Nate, Kim, Blake, and Owen! It is always fun to spend time with people that even though you haven't seen them in almost a year, you feel like you just hung out with them last weekend. Kim and I both commented on how proud we were of our boys! We managed to make it 5 days with no major melt downs! It was great to see the boys together.

Below are a few highlights. They are way out of order, but I didn't feel like fighting w/ blogger this morning. :) Kim has also put up some pics on her page, Chasing the Wind, you can get there through the link on the left hand side.

It wasn't easy getting a picture of the 3 of them! Owen, Drew, and Blake

Church Sunday morning

Pedicures on Saturday...the boys were with their dads!

Of course we had to take them to the Broken Egg!

Drew has mastered Cheerio's!

The boys at Mote....check out Kim's blog for a picture just a few seconds before this.

This picture makes me laugh! It looks like Hal is ducking for cover!

Random Tuesday

1) Our friends Nate and Kim and their boys Blake and Owen fly in tonight! We are so excited to spend time with them and see their boys. We haven't seen them since they were a month old and of course they haven't met our little man. We are going to the Aquarium, the beach, and who knows what else!

2) John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." This has really been in my mind and heart lately. It has really put me in my place...I am a branch not the vine. I am not in control. I was not made to be in control....that is not my function. My job is to be a branch and be dependent on the vine, Jesus Christ.

3) Drew is all about some "da da da da." I hear it all day long. I do often remind him that "ma ma ma" would be okay to say also.

4) In this picture if you look close, you can see one tooth about 1/4 of the way in. Poor kid has been working on it for 2 weeks!

A Date and Teething

Hal is gone this week to New Jersey. We were both in foul moods yesterday as we headed to the airport. I know he didn't like leaving me behind before, but it is much harder on both of us now that we have little man. He will be back Friday morning and has the day off, so we are looking forward to a long weekend.

While he is gone I am catching up on some reading thanks to my friend Rachel! She loaned me 4 books by Deanne Gist. I have finished two in two days which means I have got absolutely nothing done during Drew's naps or after he goes to bed. :) I also need to finish up Quiet Times for HAFBC youth camp this week. Those two things should make the week go by fast.

Saturday we met our friends David and Marcie and their daughter Evie who is 5 months old for brunch. It is fun to watch the kids start interacting with each other.

Drew finally has a tooth breaking through! The poor guy has been working on it for over a month. He loves to have ice or frozen fruit put in a mesh feeder bag. I picked these up at Target and they are a big help for his sore gums.

Tons of Fayetteville Pics...

I wanted to share a few pictures from our trip. We were able to spend a lot of time with family and squeeze in some friend time as well. Of course we never get to see everyone that we would llike, but we will catch them the next trip. It always a little hard to leave. Hal not being with us made it easier this time....we were ready to get home to see him.

Aunt K and the boys came over from Kansas to see Drew.

Lovin on Landry...

Watching his video w/ Kennedy and Landry

Uncle Lance and Landry

This picture cracks me up! If you have every been to my parents then you know my dad is ALWAYS watching sports. Only Drew can take the TV away from Grandpa!

Drew and Sarah

I tried to get a good picture of Drew and I for Father's Day. Here a couple of our attempts.

Drew loves being outside and there is always a breeze blowing at my parents. We spent a lot of time in the front yard.

Playing airplane with mom.

This may be my favorite picture from the week. My dad is crazy about his yard. He spends a lot of time working on it and it always looks beautiful. I love this picture of Drew's feet in dad's grass.

We had a playdate with my friends Elizabeth and Kristy and their kids. I hope this doesn't mean Drew will be a biter! He kept wanting to like Byron's leg!!

7 Months Old

For some reason I couldn't wait to tell people that Drew was 6 months old. Now that 7 months has come, I think I am going to keep saying 6 months! It really is going by so fast. He is changing so quickly. Even in the week we were gone, Hal noticed how he had changed.

At 7 months Drew is....
  • Drooling like crazy (notice his shirt), but still no teeth yet.
  • Very active. Always reaching and grabbing.
  • Can sit on his own, but would rather be on his belly with his legs kicking!
  • Has pushed up on his hands and knees several times and has pulled to standing.
  • Loves to eat!
  • Smiles and smiles and smiles.
  • Giggles at his mom and dad.

Home...

Drew and I are back after a great week in Fayetteville. I love this picture. Hal surprised us and met us at the gate. The look on Drew's face was priceless! After a very long day of travel we were both happy to see Hal. Lots of pics to come....as soon as laundry and grocery shopping are done!
Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

1) So...what happened to trying to post every few days? Seems like I am in a once a week posting routine. I need to get better. The natives (aka Grandma and Aunt K) are going to get restless!
2) As you can see from the picture, we are sitting up well on our own! I think I am a little scared of the next milestone. I better starting moving things to higher ground now!
3) I had a great bday yesterday. Christi and the girls took me to a bday breakfast. They had a cake with candles and Mary Allison had painted me a picture. Hal and I picked up dinner last night. He is taking me to a tapas restaurant tomorrow night. Yum!
4) Hal and I would really appreciate you all praying for some dear friends of ours from Texas, The Konz family. Their son, Connor, was in Hal's small group and we worked with Chuck and Debbie in the student ministry. Connor has been in ICU at Texas Children's for over a week. They first thought he had pneumonia, but now aren't sure what is going on. Thankfully, he seemed to turn a corner last night and is doing better. Please pray that they will know what is wrong and be able to treat him!
5) Drew and I are Fayetteville bound next Wednesday. We hate to leave Hal behind, but are looking forward to being in NWA.
6) My mom and maw maw both said I started talking early and was never quiet again! Drew has been quite the talker lately. Enjoy the video at the bottom.
