Sea World

This past weekend we headed to the San Antonio area with some friends of ours.  It was such a fun weekend!  The kids enjoyed Sea World .... having never been we didn't know what to expect.  We really didn't do as many "animal" things as I thought.  The kids really enjoyed the Sesame Street Bay of Play.

Drew was not interested in the rides at first, but he ended up riding one of the biggest/scariest rides!  Hal and I are continuing to learn how to help him face his fears.  Part of it with Drew is just letting him adjust and then he is all in!

More pics of the rest of the weekend to come!

Of course B strapped himself in and he was ready to go

Scripture & Phone Pics

BSF is about to wrap up for the year and I have already turned my mind toward how I will keep myself in God's word this summer.  I am doing a study on "Calm My Anxious Heart" with our Life Bible Study at church and I have picked up another book that you will see later in this post.  I am excited about both of those, but I wanted to make sure I was still reading the Bible every day.  I have never done a read through the Bible plan, but decided to use my Bible gateway app and give it a try.  I am working to make it the first thing I read every morning.  So far ... so good!

Something unusual jumped out at me this week.  The reading plan started off with the story of David and Bathsheba and then went to the Psalms of repentance.  I was struck by the fact that if you didnt' realize you were in the Old Testament, that you what you were reading could have been out of the New Testament after the death of Christ.  Psalm 86:16 was also something sweet/encouraging/challenging for a mother to read. "Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did." Oh that my boys would say that of me!  That they would see me as a servant of God!

I have been trying to use my wonderful camera more, but my phone is always so handy.  It seems like the real life pictures are captured on my phone.

Can you say best daddy ever??? Brooks is determined to go to the top like his brother, but those short little legs just can't get him there by himself, so dad stepped in to help!
Notice the socks and shoes.  He is crazy about his shoe/sock choice and I couldn't convince him otherwise.
Mother's day Dinner ... clearly Brooks is not interested in a picture
Tried again at lunch ... same result.
How sweet are these two on their last day of BSF????
Please stop time.  He is so big.  He was excited to sport his shirt for the school he will be starting in the fall.
One of the books I am reading this summer.
Morning TV time.  Brooks was still for 10 minutes so Drew decided to join the fun.  Love the sweet friendship that is developing between these two.

More Birthday Celebration & Mother's Day

For the week of their birthday, the boys can pick out a favorite cereal.  Brooks picked Froot Loops with some help from his brother

We had Brooks' party on Monday and then Hal left for Mexico City.  I couldn't just let his actual birthday go by without any fun, so we headed to the Galleria with our friends William and Lauren.  The birthday boy helped "open" the Disney store.

The also put up this picture on the instore screen and gave him a certificate.  He was a little overwhelmed by all the fuss, but Drew and William thought it was fun.
We then spent some time in the arcade.  They earned enough tickets for three suckers.
Hal and I bought Brooks a new water table for his birthday.
When Hal got home on Friday, we had a little more celebrating to do.
This picture cracks me up because Hal and I both look awful! He was worn out from a week of work and I was worn out from back to back weeks of him being out of town!  But we had a fun time celebrating our big boy!

Opening his present from Drew ... Miss Patty Cake DVD's.
Presents from Maw Maw and Paw Paw!  One blessed little boy.

We had a great Mother's day weekend.  We went out to eat Saturday night and then Hal and Drew did a little shopping while Brooks was napping.  Drew was proud of his flowers and balloon.  They also got me perfume.  So spoiled by all three of my boys.

Brooks is 2

Really can't believe this little man is 2.  He has changed so much in the last month or so and I am realizing more and more that he is no longer my baby!

  • You LOVE doors, drawers, and anything that latches.  You are content to stand in the car and buckle and unbuckle your carseat.
  • Shoes ... shoes ... shoes.  You love to play with the shoe basket and take them off and on.  You love to wear my shoes which sometimes worries your father.  You also love your rain boots and your brothers cowboy boots.
  • As all siblings are, you are so very different from your brother.  You are fearless and more rough and tumble than your brother is.
  • Speaking of bubba, you love your bubba and love to try and do whatever he is doing.
  • You love your momma, but you are a daddy's boy at heart.  Most weekend mornings you can be found in bed watching "WiWi" aka "Wiggles" with your dada as soon as you wake up.
  • Highchairs and booster seats highly offend you.  You are pretty sure you are way too old to be sitting in one.
  • Playgrounds are nerve wracking for your mother.  You climb quickly to the highest point and insist on going down the highest slide.
  • Your vocabulary is rapidly expanding!  I understand what you want more and more and there is less and less screaming. :)
  • This little piggy, patty cake, Zaccheus, this little light of mine, Wiggles songs, and God is so Good.  You love to sing and clap!
  • Redirecting you is almost impossible! Once you get your mind set on something, you are hard to redirect.  Disciplining you is different than your brother and often laugh at us when we do discipline.
  • You have done wonderful at BSF this year ... even sitting still for Bible Study on occasion.
  • You are so silly and I love that about your personality.
  • Sometimes I think you and your bubba have your own little language and it makes my heart smile to see you two playing and laughing together!

Happy Birthday my sweet boy!  Praying that this year is full of more adventures and learning.  I am confident that God will use your determination for some great things one day.

You are rarely bruise or scratch free

You so badly want to ride bubba's bike!

Brooks' 2nd Birthday Party

We had Brooks' birthday party after BSF today.  It was so fun to get celebrate our sweet little man!  More birthday fun to come later in the week!

Ready for their snacks!

He is SO BIG

I guess I should have let him swallow his cheetos before asking him to blow out his candle. :)

This pic cracks me up because he wants to run with the big boys all the time!
